Dansby Swanson lost his damn mind after Jorge Soler’s home run
By Scott Rogust
Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson lost it when Jorge Soler hit his go-ahead home run in Game 4 of the World Series.
The start of Game 4 of the World Series did not go as the Atlanta Braves would have liked, but they made up for it in the bottom of the seventh inning.
With the Braves trailing the Houston Astros 2-1, shortstop Dansby Swanson tied things up with a solo home run to right field. Swanson was pumped after the ball flew over the fence, but he was even more pumped when Jorge Soler immediately hit a go-ahead homer right afterwards to give Atlanta a late 3-2 lead.
Braves: Dansby Swanson, Jorge Soler make World Series history
The shortstop and outfielder made some World Series history with their home runs. According to Elias Sports Bureau, Swanson and Soler are the first No. 8 and 9 to hit back-to-back home runs in a Fall Classic game.
Additionally, Soler is the first player to hit a pinch-hit, go-ahead home run since Ed Sprague did so for the Toronto Blue Jays in 1992, per MLB’s Communications Department.
Soler is no stranger to making history in this series, as he was the first leadoff hitter to hit a home run in the first plate appearance of the World Series. No one has ever done it before, until the Braves made their first trip to the Fall Classic since 1999.
Swanson and the Braves will look to hold onto the score and secure the Game 4 win. If they manage to do so, they will be one win away from winning the Commissioner’s Trophy for the first time since 1995.
