Manchester United is getting ready to take on Atalanta on Tuesday in an important Champions League match for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

After the thumping Manchester United took a little over a week ago against Liverpool, losing 5-0, the pressure was on for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian manager was on thin ice, with reports claiming he could potentially lose his job.

Manchester United bounced back in a massive way over the weekend, as the Reds handed Tottenham a 3-0 loss in north London. That actually got Nuno Espirito Santo fired, with Antonio Conte stepping in to take over. Now, United will need to win once again to keep Solskjaer in a strong spot.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sacked reports will grow with a Manchester United loss

It goes without saying, but just because Manchester United beat a woeful Tottenham team on Saturday, that doesn’t mean Solskjaer’s job is safe. Should his team go on to lose to Atalanta on Thursday, fans are going to be downright furious.

Keep in mind that Manchester United is all set to host Manchester City at Old Trafford on Saturday as well. City is considered a strong favorite to leave the Theatre of Dreams with a victory. So, if Manchester United loses to Atalanta and then follows that up with another defeat to Man City as well, it’s going to be a major issue for Solskjaer.

A shocking result in this Champions League fixture may be enough to for the board to decide enough is enough as well. We’ll see if the United players can rise to the occasion for their coach.
