AEW: Jon Moxley to check into inpatient alcohol treatment program

Jon Moxley will enter into an inpatient program designed to help fight alcoholism.

On Tuesday night former AEW owner and CEO, Tony Khan announced AEW champion Jon Moxley would be entering into an inpatient alcohol treatment program. This news broke just hours before the release of Mox’s new book MOX.

“Jon Moxley has allowed me to share with you that he is entering an inpatient alcohol treatment program,” Khan wrote. “Jon is a beloved member of the AEW family. We all stand with him and Renee, and all of his family and friends, as he shifts his focus to recovery.”

Khan would go on to share some encouraging remarks about Moxley‘s bravery for taking this step. Many other prominent voices in the wrestling community, including Mick Foley, Thunder Rosa, Sting, and Taz, also shared words of encouragement for Moxley and his family.

“Wishing Jon the very best. A bold and brave decision – and I know he’ll be back and better than ever. Mox has a heck of a support system, with great fans, and an amazing wife,” Foley tweeted.

Even the online wrestling community rallied around Moxley, sharing their thoughts and prayers with him and his family.

Jon Moxley could be away from the ring for an extended period of time

Moxley, who just recently had a child with his wife and long-time partner Renee Paquette, will be out of action for the foreseeable future, as he gets healthy both physically and mentally. He was scheduled to be in action Wednesday night on AEW Dynamite in a match against Orange Cassidy as part of the AEW world championship eliminator tournament. Moxley, who will obviously be unable to compete, was the betting favorite to win this tournament as well.

As Moxley works on recovery and getting right, AEW will be without one of their biggest draws.
