Chandler Jones became the Cardinals’ all-time sack leader on Sunday and lifted up his jersey to reveal a t-shirt.

On Sunday against the 49ers, pass-rusher Chandler Jones brought down Jimmy Garoppolo for his 67th sack with the Arizona Cardinals. In doing so, he became the franchise’s all-time sack leader.

After he recorded the sack in NFL Week 9, though, part of his celebration included lifting up his jersey to reveal a t-shirt with a large graphic on it.

That left many Cardinals and NFL fans wondering what the shirt was about.

A closer look at the shirt Jones was wearing shows that it was a tribute to Freddie Joe Nunn, the man he passed on the cardinals’ all-time sack list on Sunday.

The shirt featured a picture of Nunn in an Arizona uniform with a message of “Rest In Peace” after he passed away earlier this year.

Who is Freddie Joe Nunn?

Nunn was a former first-round pick by the Cardinals who played for the team from 1985-93 with the organization. He racked up 66.5 career sacks with Arizona prior to his release.

He passed away in October 2021, though a cause of death isn’t widely known at this time. He was just 59 years old.
