The Baylor Bears are looking for their first win over Oklahoma football since 2014 when they take on Lincoln Riley’s Sooners in Week 11.

The Oklahoma Sooners haven’t ever really struggled to beat the Baylor Bears. The two teams have met a total of 31 times and Oklahoma has managed to win all but three of those contests. Baylor just hasn’t had a very good time when playing Oklahoma.

But there was a four-year period during which the Sooners actually didn’t control this series. The Bears managed to win three out of four games during a really interesting timeframe. From 2011 through 2014, Baylor beat Oklahoma three times.

Unfortunately for the Bears, the Sooners have won every single game since then.

When did the Baylor Bears last beat the Oklahoma Sooners?

In 2014, the last time Baylor managed to get a win over Oklahoma, the Sooners held a solid 14-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and looked as if they’d be able to go out and win big. That’s not how things ended up unfolding.

.

Baylor quickly mounted a comeback and scored three times in the second quarter, entering halftime with a 24-14 lead. The Bears then started running up the score in the second half, extending their lead to 38-14 by the time the fourth quarter got underway. From there, Baylor put up two more scores and ended up winning 48-14.

This actually happened to be the second blowout win for Baylor in as many seasons. In 2013, the Bears beat the Sooners 41-12.

But, that would be the last win for the Bears in this series. Oklahoma is currently on a seven-game winning streak over Baylor.

Things came crashing down for Baylor as the Bears and head coach Art Briles became the subjects of one of the worst scandals college football has ever seen. For many, the scandal has become the defining factor of Briles’ tenure at Baylor and all of the success on the field is overshadowed by what allegedly was happening off of it.
