Georgia football: Nolan Smith injured against Tennessee Volunteers
By Ethan Lee
Kirby Smart may not be too thrilled as talented Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Nolan Smith was dinged up against the Tennessee Volunteers.
The Georgia Bulldogs probably aren’t all that ecstatic about one of their best defenders getting injured in the midst of their game against the Tennessee Volunteers. Smith is a key member of the best defense in college football and he’s one huge part of a team that is hoping to compete for a national championship this year.
Losing Smith for any amount of time could be a huge blow for the Bulldogs. Do they have a backup plan in case he’ll be out for a while?
Georgia football: Who could replace Nolan Smith if he has to miss time?
If the Bulldogs are going to be without Smith for any period of time, who will step up to help Georgia move forward? Well, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart will have a couple different options to turn to.
First is Robert Beal Jr., who is listed as Smith’s backup on Georgia’s depth chart. The senior from Duluth, Georgia has plenty of experience and could help fill in the gap here a bit. Given that he’s listed just behind Smith on the depth chart, he’ll likely be the first name Smart considers when adjusting things should Smith need some time to recover.
Another name to keep an eye on here would be Chaz Chambliss. Of course, the ideal situation for Georgia would be that Smith is able to bounce back quickly. How Georgia responds to this situation is worth keeping an eye on.
