The Mets managerial search is starting to have some names come to light and one among them is former player Curtis Granderson.

Now that we’ve entered the MLB lockout, the New York Mets can’t continue their big-time free agency spending spree that landed them the likes of Max Scherzer, Starling Marte and several others. However, they can continue their search for a new manager.

With the lockout coming on, there has been growing clarity about possible targets to be the next manager of the Mets as the organization searches for the right candidate. One name being considered in the search, though, is a bit surprising.

According to FanSided’s own Robert Murray, New York is looking at 40-year-old and long-time MLB veteran Curtis Granderson as a potential candidate to take over as manager.

Mets rumors: Curtis Granderson a candidate to fill manager role

Curtis Granderson, of course, is more than familiar with the Mets and the New York market in general.

He spent 3.5 seasons with the team taking him under consideration as their potential new manager from 2014-17 while also playing for the Yankees immediately prior to that for four years as well.

With that said, Granderson has no managerial experience and, frankly, isn’t far removed from his playing days at all, last taking the diamond for the Miami Marlins in 2019.

New York is still not close to making a decision on who the next manager will be but Granderson’s inclusion as part of the search is certainly noteworthy and something worth watching for Mets fans to see how things transpire moving forward.
