By Ethan Lee
With Bryce Young winning this year’s Heisman Trophy, the Alabama Crimson Tide has produced a Heisman Trophy winner in back-to-back seasons.
The Alabama Crimson Tide has joined a very impressive group of schools. With Bryce Young being presented the 2021 Heisman Trophy, Alabama now has Heisman Trophy winners in back-to-back seasons.
It’s rare for one team to have Heisman Trophy winners in consecutive seasons. With Young winning the award, that has now officially happened six times in the history of the Heisman Trophy (seven if you count Reggie Bush taking home the award in 2005).
But Alabama was able to accomplish this.
With DeVonta Smith’s stellar season in 2020 and now Young’s remarkable 2021 year, the Crimson Tide have claimed the Heisman in back-to-back seasons.
Alabama football: Bryce Young wins 2021 Heisman Trophy
Young was dominant all season. While Alabama hasn’t always been consistent, Young has put up ridiculous stats seemingly with ease. This year, Young completed 68 percent of his passes for 4,322 yards and 43 touchdowns while throwing just four interceptions.
His most impressive performance came when Young and the Crimson Tide offense effortless tore the dominant Georgia Bulldogs defense apart. In the SEC Championship Game, Young threw for 421 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for another score. And that happened against arguably the best defense in the country.
Alabama now has four players in its history who have been able to win the Heisman. Mark Ingram was the first in 2009, Derrick Henry claimed it in 2015, Smith won it in 2020, and now Young in 2021.
