Watch: Recent Lamar Jackson practice footage is a bad sign for the Ravens (Video)
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has returned to practice, but he’s sporting quite the limp and he doesn’t look mobile at all.
You’ve got to respect the heck out of Lamar Jackson right now. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback has missed the past two games due to his ankle injury, but he’s giving everything he’s got to try and return for Week 17 vs. the Los Angeles Rams.
While the return of Jackson is great to see, there’s also plenty of concern from the fanbase. That’s because Jackson looks totally hobbled on the practice field, as he’s rocking a noticeable limp. Will he end up starting on Sunday?
Lamar Jackson limping is a big concern for the Ravens
While people no question want to see Jackson start vs. the Rams, it could prove to be a terrible decision to rush him back too soon. From the looks of that video above, Jackson doesn’t look even close to being at 100 percent.
What makes Jackson so special as a quarterback too is his ability to escape would-be tacklers and make plays in the open field. With him limping so badly, his ability to do that against Los Angeles wouldn’t be in play here. Imagine him trying to get free from Von Miller and Aaron Donald when he can barely jog. It’d be a recipe for disaster for both Jackson and the Ravens.
The good news for Baltimore is that they were able to activate backup QB Tyler Huntley off the COVID lost on Thursday. If Jackson isn’t ready to go vs. LA, the Huntley would get the start in his place.
There’s still a few more days leading up to kickoff, so you never know what might happen with Jackson here. However, if he’s still in this much pain, it’d be wise for Baltimore to give him another week off.
