Antonio Brown just forfeited a ton of money by quitting on the Bucs

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown just lost a ton of money for quitting on his team against the New York Jets.

When you sign a player like Brown, you know it comes with consequences.

Mr. Big Chest forced his way out of Pittsburgh, and then a few months later Oakland. After signing with the Buccaneers, he seemed to have it all with his good friend Tom Brady. Yet, 2021 ended with a bang for Brown, and not in a good way.

First, AB was suspended for using a fake vaccination card, which was revealed in a lawsuit after he failed to pay a personal chef. Now, Brown quit on his team, which just so happened to be losing to the Jets at the time he left the field.

How childish.

Brown likely cost himself a ton of money, a factor he never seems to consider with his actions. AB essentially outed himself of his contract with the Steelers and Raiders, and has now doomed his chances at any incentives he could’ve earned at the end of this season.

Somehow, the Buccaneers were willing to overlook the fake vaccination card after the NFL suspended him. This, surely, is indefensible. Brown cannot be a member of this team any longer.

Entering the game, Brown had the chance to earn the following incentives, per Spotrac:

• 11 more receptions for $333K
• 281 more yards for $333K
• 3 more touchdowns for $333K

Overall, that’s just under $1 million. Brown had three catches for 26 yards against the Jets when he quit.

Why did Antonio Brown leave?

For now, we don’t really have an answer. Fellow wideout Mike Evans tried to calm down Brown on the sidelines.

It did not work, as Brown left the game and went down the tunnel, oddly pumping up the Jets crowd on the way.

Brown was released by the Bucs after the game, with Bruce Arians admitting as much to the press.

Truly one of the weirdest stories we’ve ever seen.
