Alabama’s Jameson Williams ruled out of National Championship with knee injury
By Ethan Lee
Nick Saban and the Alabama football team were dealt a huge blow when Crimson Tide wide receiver Jameson Williams left with an injury.
Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Jameson Williams looks to be done for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs after suffering a horrifying injury. Williams was initially helped off the field and then subsequently made his way to the locker room.
During the second quarter of the game, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young launched a pass downfield to Williams. Williams pivoted around to catch the pass and then, as he worked his body back around took a few steps forward. As he was running, it appeared as if Williams suffered a devastating leg injury just before being tackled.
ESPN’s Marty Smith noticed Williams was able to walk to the locker room without any help.
In the third quarter, Holly Rowe explained that Williams injured his knee and would be out for the remainder of the game.
College football media reacts to Jameson Williams injury
This injury is absolutely awful news for Williams and Alabama. That’s especially true as the Crimson Tide is without John Metchie for this game.
It’s not clear what the injury exactly is, but it doesn’t look good. No replay of that injury (or any injury) ever needs to be shown during a broadcast.
Hopefully, this doesn’t hinder Williams’ career and he’s able to return to form sooner rather than later.
