Nick Saban names Bear Bryant the best college football coach of all time

The Alabama Crimson Tide have been lucky enough to have two of the greatest coaches of all time: Nick Saban and Bear Bryant. 

Who is the best college football coach of all time? Given the nature of this sport and how long it’s been played, there are any number of possible answers for that question. Two notable names that will be brought up in that discussion happen to have coached the same team, the Alabama Crimson Tide.

What Nick Saban has been able to do in this current run of dominance and the long sustained success that Paul “Bear” Bryant established at Alabama are anomalies. They’re outliers. The amounts of wins and championships that both Saban and Bryant have is absurd.

And that’s why they are two of the first names brought up as people debate this topic.

One opinion that is worth considering is Saban’s. According to the current Crimson Tide head coach, the Alabama legend that is Bear Bryant is the single greatest coach to ever lead a team in this sport.

Bryant and Saban are, without a doubt, two of the greatest coaches of all time. Between them, Alabama has won 12 national championships as both have won a half dozen titles with the Crimson Tide.

Of course, Saban has another national title from his time at LSU and could get his eighth national championship if he’s able to beat Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Alabama has been fortunate enough to have two men who legitimately could be considered the single greatest college football coach of all time. The fact that this conversation often centers around two Crimson Tide coaches along with a list of other legends is a testament to the anomaly that is the Alabama football program.
