Cowboys: Good at football, bad at spelling
By Ethan Lee
The Dallas Cowboys apparently have issues spelling. They’re a pretty good football franchise, but they’re not the best at spelling names for some reason.
Very few things are going right for the Dallas Cowboys as they host the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs. While this team looked excellent during the regular season, Dallas has looked rough from the start of this contest.
And somehow, the Cowboys’ issues apparently include the inability to spell Leighton Vander Esch’s name properly.
On Vander Esch’s uniform, the Cowboys ended up dubbing him “Vander Ecsh.” It’s a pretty straightforward, simple misspelling. All the Cowboys did was flip a couple letters.
But it’s not great.

Dallas Cowboys misspell Leighton Vander Esch’s name on his jersey
Hey, look, typos happen. Misspellings happen. Everyone’s guilty of this sort of mistake at some point or another. That includes yours truly. That’s why editors are important. Well, editors and spellcheck.
But, this is a jersey for an NFL player in a playoff game. Vander Esch isn’t a rookie. He’s not new to this team. He’s been around for a few years now. There aren’t many good explanations for why this happened.
Unfortunately for Dallas, apparently NFL jerseys don’t come with spellcheck or editors.
If the Cowboys can find a way to overcome the 49ers, then maybe they’ll have a chance to fix Vander Esch’s uniform with the proper spelling of his name prior to their next matchup. Of course, if this score holds and San Francisco can hold on to win, then a botched spelling on a jersey will be the last thing that this franchise will need to address.
