Legendary Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman just wants to spend his time calling the Cowboys. But, well, he doesn’t get to today.

The Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers are getting set to play and one famed former member of the Cowboys really wanted to be in Dallas for the game. Troy Aikman, an absolute legend in Dallas, didn’t get the opportunity to help cover the Cowboys game.

Instead, Aikman, who works for Fox, got to cover one of the Cowboys’ division rivals get crushed. Dallas and San Francisco will be broadcast on CBS.

Aikman never really had a shot at that game. And he doesn’t seem too happy about that.

NFL Playoffs: Troy Aikman gets snarky about not calling Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers

It’s hard to blame Aikman for being upset about not getting the chance to call the Cowboys game today. Beyond just the simple fact that Aikman has an attachment to Dallas, there really is a good chance the Cowboys’ game against the 49ers will end up being better than the disaster he ended up attached to.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers crushed the Philadelphia Eagles. It wasn’t even remotely close. And that’s a boring thing to be a part of. Sure, Aikman probably wants to call the Cowboys because of his connection there, but he probably also wants to help cover a competitive game.

The Buccaneers beat the Eagles 31-15 and this particular contest wasn’t really as close as the score indicates.

But at least now Aikman gets to sit back and watch Dallas and San Francisco face off. He gets to move beyond the blowout he saw and relax a little while watching the Cowboys.
