49ers in awkward situation after Green Bay high school field takeover
By Staff
The San Francisco 49ers are practicing at a Green Bay high school. Unfortunately, things might turn a little awkward for them and the Packers.
The 49ers face enough of an uphill climb this coming weekend, as they have to play the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in what’s expected to be single-digit temperatures. Aaron Rodgers is all too used to those kinds of conditions. Meanwhile, the 49ers are just trying to get used to it.
The Niners are reportedly practicing at Bay Port High School. This is also where the kids of several Packers coaches apparently attend. While it’s unknown if there’s any heckling as a result, one would think that’d make for an awkward situation for all parties involved.
The view from the classrooms likely makes things a little worse.
Can 49ers pull off the upset in Green Bay?
The 49ers have had the Packers’ number in the postseason, plus they played a tight matchup against Rodgers and Co. earlier this season. There’s no telling what might happen on Saturday, but San Francisco won’t go down without a fight.
Nick Bosa cleared concussion protocol on Friday, which is a key component to the 49ers handling Rodgers. If Bosa can help keep Rodgers in the pocket, and put pressure on the Packers quarterback, it’ll limit the amount of damage he can do with that time to throw.
“He’s come along well going through the NFL protocol,” 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans said. “Definitely need him out there.”
Kyle Shanahan echoed those sentiments on Friday.
“It’s looking good,” Shanahan said.
Bosa, along with Jimmy Garoppolo, will play massive roles in deciding whether the 49ers continue their status as Rodgers’ playoff nightmare, or if they’re soundly defeated on Saturday.
“It’s playoff football,” Garoppolo said. “We know what time it is and there ain’t no time to rest right now.”
