Who will replace Nathaniel Hackett as Packers offensive coordinator?
With Nathaniel Hackett leaving the Packers to join the Broncos, Matt LaFleur is now in need of a new offensive coordinator.
As expected, Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett won’t be back with the team next season. The rising assistant had interviewed for multiple head coaching openings and it was announced on Thursday morning that he’s the new head coach of the Denver Broncos.
With that, Matt LaFleur now has a big decision on his hands as to who will end up calling the plays for the offense next campaign. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, LaFleur could end up promoting Luke Getsy for the position.
The Packers might go with Luke Getsy as the team’s new offensive coordinator
A promotion for Getsy would make sense, as LaFleur has hinted that he’d like the job to go to someone who is already familiar with the offense. Currently, Getsy serves as quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator, so a move to OC could be in the cards for him.
With that said, things could be looking completely different for this offense come Week 1 next season. With Hackett on his way to the Broncos, the Aaron Rodgers to Denver rumors are heating up.
Rodgers has been linked with a move to the Mile High City since last offseason and now that Hackett is the team’s new head coach, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if the future Hall-of-Famer decides to join him over in the AFC West.
Regardless, LaFleur needs to focus on what he can control. Right now, his main priority is finding someone to take over for Hackett. A decision could be coming soon, and it very well could end up being Getsy to get the job.
