Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals toppled the mighty Chiefs and are Super Bowl-bound in just his second season, which has an old tweet going viral.
Most people were picking Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals to finish last in their division. In the same line of thinking, there were very few people who were even picking this team to make it to the playoffs. Yet, here they are, coming off beating the Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium and heading to the Super Bowl.
Despite falling behind 21-3 in the first half, the Cincinnati defense and Burrow worked in-tandem to claw their way back and actually take a 24-21 lead in the fourth quarter. Kansas City forced overtime but, after a Vonn Bell interception, the Bengals drove down to get the game-winning field goal and punch their Super Bowl ticket.
Joe Burrow and this team have consistently defied the odds since the start of this season. Itās been impressive and highly enjoyable.
But after upsetting the Chiefs, an old tweet from the Bengals quarterback started popping off as his message from 2014 was wildly prescient for the current moment in Cincinnati.
Joe Burrow tweet from 2014 oddly fitting for Bengals run to Super Bowl
That tweet has some realĀ Major League and Jake Taylor vibes. The real ones know about winning the whole thing.
With that said, itās crazy that Burrow tweeted that some 7-8 years ago and itās so relevant to his and his teamās plight in the playoffs.
Again, this team was barely given a chance to make it to the playoffs. Then they won the division. Then they beat the Raiders. Then they knocked off the No. 1-seeded Titans. Then they upended the favorites in the Chiefs in Arrowhead.
So maybe Joe Burrow circa 2014 was just psychic and now needs to heed his own advice. At this point, why not just win the whole thing?
