In a bit of a surprise, Jim Harbaugh will be returning to Michigan next season instead of heading to the NFL for a new job.

Michigan Wolverines fans as a whole were able to take a deep sigh of relief on Wednesday, as it was announced that head coach Jim Harbaugh isn’t going anywhere. The expectation for a while had been that Harbaugh would be making the leap back to the NFL.

Both Miami and Minnesota appeared like possible destinations for him. Instead, Harbaugh will be back with the Wolverines next season in hopes of leading the team back to the College Football Playoff. Harbaugh couldn’t be more jacked up about staying in Ann Arbor too.

“With an enthusiasm unknown to mankind!” Harbaugh said in a text message to The Associated Press.

Jim Harbaugh reportedly never landed an offer from the Vikings

While Harbaugh rumors with the Vikings continued to heat up, the Associated Press is reporting that the Vikings never put an offer on the table. It’s unknown at this time if Miami offered him their head coaching position either.

The Vikings may turn to Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell once the Super Bowl ends for the job.

Regardless of that, Harbaugh is done chasing other positions and his sole focus is now on making Michigan the best program possible for 2022 and beyond.

While Harbaugh’s time as head coach of Michigan hasn’t quite gone according to plan, the team did finally end its losing streak to Ohio State this fall and they reached the CFP. Unfortunately, Michigan suffered a loss to eventual champion Georgia.

Now, Harbaugh is already focused on the 2022 season and fans can rest easy knowing he isn’t going anywhere.
