The Green Bay Packers should look to sign one of these three players participating in Super Bowl LVI on Sunday, Feb. 13.

Based off how the 2021 NFL regular-season turned out, it looked as though the Green Bay Packers were a near certainty to compete in Super Bowl LVI. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers played spectacularly, which earned him his fourth NFL MVP award and the team held the best record in football. That is why it came as a shock that the Packers were eliminated in the Divisional Round by the San Francisco 49ers.

Now, the Packers are going to wait and see what Rodgers decides to do this offseason, whether that is to remain in Green Bay, play elsewhere or retire. Not only that but they are set to have 24 players hitting free agency.

If the Packers actually want to make it to Super Bowl LVII next year, they could look at signing some of the players on the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals, who are participating in the big game on Sunday, Feb. 13.

It may very well be time for the Packers to find their next kicker, based on how the 2021 season went for Mason Crosby.

The struggles were evident throughout the campaign, especially in the team’s game against the Bengals, where he missed three-of-seven field goal attempts in Cincinnati. Overall, Crosby posted a field-goal percentage of 73.5-percent, which is his lowest since the 2012 season (63.6-percent).

If Green Bay opts to move on from Crosby, they should consider signing Matt Gay, kicker for the Rams. Gay had a stellar third-year in the NFL with the Rams, as he made 32-of-34 of his field-goal attempts, including going 4-for-5 from over 50 yards in the regular season.

Perhaps his most important kick came in the closing seconds of Los Angeles’ Divisional Round matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After the Rams blew a 27-3 lead, Matthew Stafford hit Cooper Kupp on a deep pass in the closing seconds, allowing Gay to hit the walk-off, 30-yard field goal to send the Rams to the NFC Championship Game.

If the Packers move on from Crosby, they should pivot to signing Gay.
