Cal-State Fullerton earned a spot in the 2022 NCAA Tournament by winning the Big West. Now set for a date with Duke, the Titans are upset-minded already.
After beating Long Beach State in an absolute thriller on Saturday night, the Cal-State Fullerton Titans won the Big West and, as a result, punched their ticket to the 2022 NCAA Tournament with an automatic bid. The big question was where theyād end up and who theyād face to start their March Madness run.
In a bit of poetic circumstance created by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, the Titans have the opportunity to be a giant-killer in March Madness.
Slotted in as the No. 15 seed in the West Region, Cal-State Fullerton will be matched up against the Duke Blue Devils.
NCAA Tournament: Cal-State Fullerton reaction to Duke matchup was epic
If you thought that the Titans would be shy about the potentially massive upset, youād be wrong. The team watching the bracket reveal seemed immediately ready and epically hyped about their chance to face the mighty Blue Devils.
Thatās certainly the look of a group that isnāt going to back down from a challenge, even if that challenge is one of the blue bloods of college basketball.
Upsetting Duke as a No. 15-seed would be incredible in any year. However, it would be particularly wild this year as this is legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewskiās final NCAA Tournament as Coach K is set to hang up the whistle after this season.
Of course, the Titans will be substantial underdogs in the matchup but a 15-over-2 upset in March Madness isnāt entirely unheard of. And if their reaction is any indication, Cal-State Fullerton is ready for the task.
