Packers partially make up for trading Davante Adams with latest move

The Green Bay Packers have reached an agreement on a three-year deal with veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas. 

Plenty of people remain furious that the Green Bay Packers traded Davante Adams earlier this week, but things aren’t all bad at Lambeau Field. That’s because a key piece for the secondary will be back in action next season and beyond.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Packers were able to finalize a three-year deal with cornerback Rasul Douglas. After coming up with some huge plays for Green Bay last season, Douglas isn’t going anywhere.

Rasul Douglas inking a three-year deal is big for the Packers

Douglas joined the Packers in the middle of the year last season and ended up appearing in 12 games, making five starts. Douglas went on to post 57 total tackles and five interceptions in impressive fashion.

People are still talking about his game-sealing interception late against the Arizona Cardinals during Monday Night Football. It looked like Kyler Murray was going to throw a game-winning score, but Douglas came away with a huge pick.

Douglas was receiving plenty of interest in free agency, but he wanted to return to Green Bay. Luckily for him, the Packers wanted this as well and more cap space opened up following the Adams trade to Las Vegas.

With Douglas signing, the work isn’t done for general manager Brian Gutekunst. The expectation is that the team will go out and sign a veteran wide receiver as well for Aaron Rodgers. Replacing someone like Adams is virtually impossible, but another strong move from Green Bay could be coming soon. Fans are ready to see what Gutekunst has in mind, but bringing Douglas back sure has gotten plenty of people off his back.
