The Masters: 3 matchup bets to wager on at Augusta
Taking a look at the matchup bets for The Masters and picking our three favorite best bets for you to tackle and wager on this week at Augusta.
There’s no golf tournament in the world that’s more fun to bet on than The Masters. With all of the history, the limited field, the star power within that limited field, and the intimate knowledge that everyone has of the course, it’s tough to not get excited and put your wagers out when we head to Augusta National Golf Club.
Over the week, we’ve already looked at place finishes and outright winner picks in addition to some DFS picks as well. But now we’re looking at the guys that are going mano-y-mano, at least in terms of the betting market. That’s right, we’re tackling our matchup best bets for this week at Augusta.
Please take notice that these are tournament-long matchup plays for The Masters and not round matchups. But rest assured, we will be looking at some of those throughout the week as well. But with that, let’s get into three matchups that I love this week.

The Masters matchup best bets: 3 tournament-long matchups to target
Cameron Smith (+110) over Scottie Scheffler
Understanding that Scheffler is the newly minted No. 1-ranked player in the world, I love Smith in this tournament to really make a name for himself. After winning THE PLAYERS, the Aussie was the toast of the town with two wins to his credit this year. He also has a longer and, frankly, better history at Augusta. His all-around game should be well-suited to contend and, while this one might be a sweat, give me Smith to emerge at plus-odds in this matchup.
Gary Woodland (-110) over Billy Horschel
I identified Woodland as great value for DraftKings PGA DFS picks this week and I stand by it. Horschel has played well — frankly, better than Woodland too — at Augusta over the years, but I love where Woodland’s game is right now. He’s striking the ball brilliantly right now and his short game has started to round into form. This is definitely more of a hunch play than an obvious one, but I still like the value and wholly stand by it.
Justin Thomas (+105) over Jon Rahm
As if I didn’t have enough investment in Justin Thomas this week. Thomas is both one of my picks to win The Masters and one of BetSided’s Iain MacMillan’s outright picks as well. Rahm is also a threat to win at Augusta as he has the game to compete and win virtually anywhere. At the same time, Thomas has been playing far more consistently this year, just without the wins. The plus odds for Thomas to only beat one golfer in this tournament given his performance and trends coming into this week means we’re getting a chance at great value.
