With his latest comments about Aaron Judge and the Yankees, people think Anthony Rizzo may have taken a bit of a shot at the Cubs in the process.

It’s been a wild 24 hours for the Atlanta Braves. On top of Ronald Acuña Jr. calling out Freddie Freeman for being a bad teammate, it looks like Anthony Rizzo has an issue with how the club treated Freeman during contract talks as well.

However, people are now wondering if perhaps Rizzo was also calling out his former club the Chicago Cubs too. While discussing Aaron Judge’s contract talks with the Yankees, Rizzo said there’s no loyalty in the bigs anymore. Does he feel this way after the Cubs traded him and others last summer?

Anthony Rizzo may have called out the Cubs with his latest comments

On one side, Rizzo is obviously putting the Braves on blast for how things ended with Freeman. The two sides weren’t on the same page in their negotiations because Freeman wanted an extra year. Atlanta then traded for All-Star Matt Olson, while Freeman has since moved to LA to suit up for the Dodgers.

Rizzo re-signed with the Yankees this offseason. He closed out the year in the Bronx after Chicago traded him to the Yankees ahead of the deadline. Rizzo is happy to be back with the Yankees, but that doesn’t mean he was excited to leave Wrigley Field.

He was loved by everyone in Chicago, especially after he helped the team win the World Series in 2016. He, Kris Bryant and Javier Baez were among the superstars that were traded. People still can’t get over the club cleaning house like this, but it’s clear the front office is looking to the future.

Was Rizzo referencing that when he said there’s no loyalty in the game anymore? You can decide that on your own.
