In his latest comments discussing Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo couldn’t help calling out the Atlanta Braves on how they treated Freddie Freeman.

It looks like Atlanta Braves fans aren’t the only ones upset that the team didn’t re-sign Freddie Freeman. After a historic career with the club, highlighted by winning the World Series in 2021, Freeman and Atlanta couldn’t get on the same page contract wise.

The Braves then traded for Matt Olson and Freeman signed with the Dodgers. If you ask Rizzo, this was a classic showing of how there’s no loyalty in MLB these days. Does he have a point in this case?

Anthony Rizzo calling out the Braves came from out of nowhere

Braves fans are a bit up in arms over this comment, as it’s not like Freeman wasn’t offered millions and millions from Atlanta. What had the two sides apart was the extra year that Freeman was looking for. Once the club realized things wouldn’t get done, they pulled off the stunner in trading for Olson.

Rizzo brings this up now because it’s up in the air if the Yankees and Aaron Judge will be able to finalize their extension in the near future. The two sides have reportedly been working on things, but the negotiations are continuing.

Judge and Rizzo obviously saw what happened between Freeman and Atlanta. It’s on Brian Cashman and the Yankees to remind Judge that he’s a major piece to this club trying to get back to the World Series. With that, they’ll need to put a boatload of money in front of him as well.

For now, Yankees fans are going to be waiting to see what will happen with Judge. As for the Atlanta supporters, this is another reminder that everyone saw how they mishandled their talks with Freeman.
