Mets shock the world, get positive update on Max Scherzer
Star hurler Max Scherzer is on track to start for the team on Friday and it’s finally some good news for Mets supporters.
What’s this, some actual good news when it comes to a New York Mets pitcher? That’s been hard to come by for the NL East side, but it looks like fans will be able to see Max Scherzer take the bump on Friday.
Despite Scherzer battling a hamstring injury late in spring training, he told reporters on Thursday that he’s on track to start Game 2 of the series with the Washington Nationals.
Max Scherzer looks ready to start on Friday for the Mets
This has Mets fans excited for once on Twitter. In recent weeks, the New York supporters had been incredibly bummed thanks to negative updates for Scherzer and Jacob deGrom. Normally, deGrom would start Opening Day for this team.
However, he’s dealing with a shoulder injury and is being shut down for a month. After all the injuries he had to battle in 2021, the last thing anyone wanted to see was more of the same for the ace hurler to start the new campaign.
Alas, more adversity has arrived for deGrom. Things were made worse when people found out that Scherzer was dealing with issues as well. However, he had a strong throwing session on Thursday and all signs are pointing to him being ready to rock on Friday.
In early December, the Mets made a huge splash when they signed Scherzer to his three-year, $130 million contract. It had everyone in Queens so excited for the campaign to arrive. While there was a scare on Scherzer’s health, it looks like he’s just fine and will be ready to dominate against the Nats.
