Deebo Samuel says fans are sending him death threats over contract negotiations (Video)
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel revealed that angry 49ers fans are messaging him racial slurs and death threats over contract negotiations.
The San Francisco 49ers may have thought they had another year of Deebo Samuel on his rookie contract, but Samuel believes that the organization should reevaluate his worth. For that reason, Samuel recently removed photos and mentions of the 49ers on his Instagram as he negotiates for a lucrative contract extension.
According to Samuel, the same 49ers fans who were cheering him on while he dazzled as an integral offensive weapon are now sending him death threats and racist insults.
“For all of y’all fans in the DMs sending death threats and racial stuff: that don’t bother me, bruh,” Samuel said. “It don’t,” he reiterated.
“Y’all were the same ones that were just hoorah-ing and ‘Go Deebo’-ing, and now y’all are the ones sending death threats and all this racial stuff that y’all got. That don’t bother me, bruh. I’m cool, I’m chillin’, I’m happy.”
Deebo Samuel faces death threats and racist comments from 49ers fans
The ever-competitive 49ers wide receiver was looking forward to a division without Russell Wilson, stating that the conference has been slowly getting easier throughout the offseason. While Bobby Wagner is also gone from the Seattle Seahawks, unfortunately for Samuel, he chose to stay within the NFC West with the Los Angeles Rams.
Rather than attempting leave the 49ers, Samuel seems to be leveraging his worth the way Kyler Murray recently did when he pulled mentions of the Arizona Cardinals from his Instagram. Since late March, Samuel has been leaving a series of cryptic tweets that just might be about his team.
As Samuel prepares for the first major negotiation of his NFL career, 49ers fans could take heed of his advice: best to be calm as Samuel and the 49ers work this all out.
