Errol Spence vs. Yordenis Ugas official weigh-in results
Three of the four major world welterweight championships in professional boxing will be on the line when WBC and IBF champion Errol Spence meets WBA (Super) champion Yordenis Ugas in a title unification contest that tops a card at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, on April 16.
Before both men could get to the ring, however, they needed to first get through the weigh-ins.
Both Spence and Ugas successfully made weight for their unified title clash.
Spence has been the IBF’s 147-pound champion since 2017 when he knocked out Kell Brook in England. He’s defended the belt five times since, and he added the WBC title to his mantle when he bested Shawn Porter in an exciting title unification bout in September 2019.
Spence last competed in December 2020 — Spence’s first fight since his October 2019 car crash — with a unanimous decision win over Danny Garcia to keep the IBF and WBC titles.
Spence and Manny Pacquiao were originally supposed to face one another for Spence’s titles in August 2021, but an eye injury forced Spence out of the fight.
He was replaced in that fight by Ugas, who had earned the WBA (Regular) welterweight title in September 2020 before being promoted to WBA (Super) champion at the start of 2021 due to the inactivity of the then-Super champion, Pacquiao.
In a major upset, Ugas scored a decision victory over Pacquiao to retain the WBA title.
A free, two-fight broadcast on Showtime prior to the pay-per-view will also feature the WBA (Regular) welterweight title on the line when Radzhab Butaev takes on Eimantas Stanionis.
