Alex Rodriguez can be spotted court-side at Minnesota Timberwolves playoff games. Is he the team’s owner?

The Minnesota Timberwolves made the NBA Playoffs after defeating the Los Angeles Clippers in the play-in tournament for the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference. As a result, they are facing the No. 2 Memphis Grizzlies in the first round.

If you have happened to watch Minnesota games, you may have seen former MLB star Alex Rodriguez sitting courtside. Not only that, but you probably spotted Rodriguez celebrating with Timberwolves players after their play-in tournament win.

Rodriguez is a co-minority owner of the Timberwolves. The former New York Yankee and entrepreneur Marc Lore purchased ownership of the Timberwolves and the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx in 2021 for $1.5 billion. The sale was approved by the NBA.

The deal is structured where Rodriguez and Lore purchased 20-percent ownership in 2021 as the first increment of the sale. The duo would then have the opportunity to purchase an additional 20-percent share in 2022 and 40-percent share in 2023, which would make them majority owners of both teams.
