Nikola Jokic says he wants to sign supermax with the Nuggets
History could be made in the near future, as Nikola Jokic is ready to sign a monster new deal with the Denver Nuggets.
Nikola Jokic could be on his way to another MVP trophy and he’s surely earned the right for a monster payday. Despite the Denver Nuggets losing their postseason series to the Golden State Warriors, that doesn’t take away from Jokic’s brilliance.
The plans are already in motion for Jokic to receive a major extension from the team. If you ask the superstar player, he wants to stay in the city and he’ll be ready to put the pen to paper when the time is right.
Nikola Jokic has no plans to suit up for a different team
“I would like it, of course,” Jokic said, via ESPN, about a new Nuggets deal. “But it’s not something that I’m deciding. I think if [the] offer is on the table, of course I’m going to accept it because I really like the organization, I really like the people who works here. I’m in [a] really good relationship with everybody from [the] owner to equipment manager.”
In the Game 5 loss to the Warriors, Jokic reminded everyone of how great he is, scoring 30 points and adding 19 rebounds. That was just another day at the office for Jokic, as he earned the respect of the Warriors. This includes Draymond Green, who called him one of the toughest players in the game.
Sooner than later, Denver will reward Jokic with a mega-deal that is expected to be north of $250 million. Jokic certainly deserves this kind of dough, especially if he’s awarded MVP honors for the second time. Nuggets fans want Jokic around for the long haul and it looks like they’ll get their wish soon enough.
