While the Indy 500 brings with it incredible excitement at every turn, it also can cause some unfortunate injury and drama due to car accidents. Indy 500 crash today.
The Indianapolis 500 is a danger unlikely any other in racing. While the cars are far safer than they were in the distant past, every year serves as a reminder that one false turn can lead to seconds of chaos.
On Sunday, there have already been a few crashes at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

- Lap 39 crash: Rinus VeeKay started the race in the third-place position, but unfortunately was in an accident on a Lap 39 turn. The crash knocked him out of the race entirely, and can be seen below. Thankfully, he was okay:

- Lap 70 crash: Another race rookie, Callum Ilott, crashed on turn 2 in lap 70. Per the Indy Star, the car “snapped and spun 360 degrees before hitting head-on into the wall.” The video is violent, but Ilott also appeared to be okay after the incident. The damage to the car really tells the full story.
