Alex Bregman gets revenge after Yankees plunk Jose Altuve on first pitch
By Mark Powell
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman got revenge for teammate Jose Altuve, who was plunked to start the game by Yankees pitcher Jameson Taillon.
Altuve, who was seen signing autographs for young Yankees fans before the game, was plunked by Taillon on a pitch that clearly got away. Nonetheless, fans loved it, and Houston took notice.
Just a few batters later, Bregman got revenge for his teammate, who was on base at the time. Bregman hit a three-run home run to put Houston up early.
Astros-Yankees is one of the most-anticipated series of the season thus far. These teams are both ranked in the top-5 of our MLB Power Rankings for a reason. They have the top two records in the American League. Outside of Boston, the Astros are the Yanks’ biggest rival.
Astros: Alex Bregman’s revenge was short-lived
In what’s sure to be a long weekend series for both sides, Giancarlo Stanton answered Bregman’s three-run shot with a homer of his own.

That was not a gift from the short porch. Nope, Stanton’s home run would’ve been a blast in all 30 ballparks.
Houston and New York could very well meet again in the ALCS when all is said and done. For now, we get a preview.
