Druw Jones, son of former Atlanta Braves star Andruw Jones, was selected second-overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2022 MLB Draft, and everyone feels old.
The 2022 MLB Draft was the headliner for July 17, 2022 on All-Star weekend. As is the case every year, fans wonder where the top prospects in the class end up. Sure enough, there was plenty of excitement to start the draft.
After Matt Holliday’s son, Jackson, was selected with the first-overall pick by the Baltimore Orioles, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected outfielder Druw Jones with the second-overall pick. Yes, Jones is the son of former Atlanta Braves star Andruw Jones.
Just how we Druw it up. 😏

Yes, you are that old. https://t.co/VPvRYM7usB
I don’t do the “I feel old” thing much - BUT - the top 2 picks in the MLB Draft being Matt Holiday’s and Andruw Jones’s sons has me feeling odd!

I was an adult when Andruw Jones debuted and married with a kid on the way when Matt Holliday debuted. Their sons were just selected with the top two picks in the draft. I'm starting to think my big-league career might not happen.

Andruw Jones' son was just taken in the MLB Draft as the latest reminder that time is a ceaseless purveyor of depression and existential dread.

In 2006, Matt Holliday and Andruw Jones were both NL All-Star OF.

Matt Holliday’s son just went #1 overall & Andruw Jones son went #2 overall. I’m getting old

First two picks of the draft are the sons of Andruw Jones and Matt Holiday.

It would appear I’m washed.
Jones made his MLB debut with the Braves in 1996, and he last played in 2012 as a member of the New York Yankees. In that span, he won 10 Gold Glove awards and was named an All-Star five times in his 17-year career.
Druw Jones was ranked by many outlets as the top overall prospect in the 2022 draft class. Like his father, Jones is projected to be the best defensive center fielder in the entire draft, and can only get better.
When watching the MLB Draft, be prepared to feel old when you see the kids of players you watched growing up get selected by one of the 30 organizations. It’s okay, we feel old too.
