Potential No. 1 overall pick Druw Jones looks just like his dad, former Atlanta Braves legend Andruw Jones, at the dish.

Braves fans will love this familiar swing.

Druw Jones, just 18 years old out of Atlanta, has a chance to be the top overall selection in Sunday night’s MLB Draft. At the very least, he’s expected to go in the top-5.

Druw is just one of many second-generation MLB talents, as Jackson Holliday (son of Matt Holliday) and Justin Crawford (son of Carl Crawford) could all be selected in the first round.

Tim Leonard, who works for MASN Sports, put together a side-by-side look of Druw and Andruw at the plate. The similarities are striking.

MLB Draft: Druw Jones and Andruw Jones are eerily similar

Keith Law of The Athletic has Jones going No. 2 to the Arizona Diamondbacks, behind only Jackson Holliday. Holliday is the son of former MLB’er Matt Holliday, which is something the two sluggers have in common.

“Jones is the son of Andruw Jones, and his game bears many resemblances to his father’s, not least in the outfield, where Druw is already a plus defender and could work his way up to an elite level with experience,” Law wrote.

Law also declared that Druw has 30/30 potential, which is a rarity to find in the modern game, where base-stealing has decreased importance. The fact that Jones can already contribute as a plus defender adds to his value as a potential Gold Glove outfielder.

His offensive stats — albeit from high school — were enough to get him a scholarship to Vanderbilt, arguably the best baseball college in the country.

An MLB scout (whose team owns a top-10 pick, I might add) told Sporting News’ Bill Trochi that Jones is essentially a spitting image of his father.

“Maybe Griffey. Now listen, I don’t think the kid is Ken Griffey Jr. But this kid plays center field about as good as you can play center field,” the scout added. “He could play Double-A center field right now. He’s that good defensively.”

Considering the tape above, it’s no wonder he’s considered the best outfielder in this year’s draft class.
