Former Michigan Star, All Name Team Captain joining Big Ten Network
Former Michigan tight end Jake Butt, known for his name and game, is returning to the Big Ten, this time as a commentator on The Big Ten Network.
Jake Butt was a star at Michigan, and his game was almost as epic as his name. Now, he’s heading back to the Big Ten, but in a different role.
On Tuesday, the Big Ten Network announced that Butt would be joining the network for the 2022 NFL season, working alongside Brandon Gaudin, the voice of Madden NFL. Butt himself announced the news via social media.

Michigan’s Jake Butt is returning to the Big Ten as an analyst for The Big Ten Network.
Butt will not be calling any games this year. Instead, he will work as a studio analyst. Still, it is an excellent opportunity for the former Michigan star, who was a 5th-round draft pick by the Denver Broncos in 2017 and played for four seasons before retiring in 2021.
During his time in Ann Arbor, Jake Butt was a kick in the butt for the opposition. A two-time All Big Ten selection, Butt won the John Mackey Award in 2016 and has the most receptions (138) and yards (1,646) by a tight end in school history. Despite his collegiate success, Butt never latched on with the Denver Broncos, catching only ten passes for 90 yards and zero touchdowns.
Nonetheless, it is nice to see Butt coming back to an area in which he has a high level of comfort and familiarity; It will be interesting to see how Butt handles his new role, especially when it comes to providing analysis on the Wolverines after the season they had: a Big Ten Championship and berth in the College Football Playoff.
