MLB jinx just ensured Padres won’t win the World Series
Bob Nightengale of USA Today placed his curse on the San Diego Padres after he has cursed others before
There is the “broadcaster jinx,” which isn’t real and there are other jinxes that haven’t been true either. But if there is one jinx, it’s with Bob Nightengale of USA Today king of jinxes, who is the worst.
Last year, even the Colorado Rockies called out Nightengale for tweeting about Germán Márquez’s no-hitter, which was broken up after Nightengale tweeted about it.
This time, the San Diego Padres are subject to Nightengale’s jinx/awful predictions.
Bob Nightengale jinxes the San Diego Padres
The San Diego Padres have made a lot of moves in the last two days as they have traded for All-Star closer Josh Hader from the Milwaukee Brewers, the best hitter in the sport in Juan Soto and a former All-Star first baseman in Josh Bell from the Nationals, infielder Brandon Drury from the Reds, and the were able to shed some of the salary of Eric Hosmer by trading him to the Red Sox.
That makes the Padres a much better team, but for Nightengale, he is predicting that they will get to the playoffs (a safe bet) and will get to the World Series (by no means a guarantee).
Folks on Twitter have already tagged the account @OldTakesExposed (aka Freezing Cold Takes) in preparation for Nightengale being dead wrong.
For Padres fans, they can only hope that all of A.J. Preller’s moves are enough to overcome Nightengale’s hex. They are hoping and praying that nobody else will get injured and/or Fernando Tatis Jr. doesn’t suffer a setback.
But it may not be enough to overcome the wizard that is Nightengale.
