The one and only Bob Nightengale jinxed Colorado Rockies pitcher German Marquez on Tuesday night and the club let him know just how disappointed they are.

It was all there for German Marquez going up against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday. The Colorado Rockies hurler had pitched a no-hitter through eight innings. There was nothing that was going to stop him from doing the unthinkable at Coors Field. Then, Bob Nightengale stepped in.

The MLB insider took to Twitter to let everyone know what was going on. Then in the top of the ninth, in the blink of an eye, Pirates’ Ka’ai Tom smacked a single and ruined the party. Everyone was ready to call out Nightengale for what he did, including the Rockies.

Bob Nightengale just had to jinx German Marquez from tossing a no-hitter against Pittsburgh

Folks in Colorado were so upset that even the Avalanche had to put Nightengale on blast for what he’s done. This isn’t the first time someone has jinxed a pitcher from tossing a no-no, but Nightengale simply had to know better. Save the tweet for later, man.

As for Marquez, he was oh so close to becoming the first Rockies pitcher to record a no-hitter at Coors. He was nothing short of sensational going up against Pittsburgh, as he finished the night with the complete-game shutout, giving up just the one hit, one walk and recording five strikeouts.

While he wasn’t able to get the job done, he’s not going to complain after that kind of a performance. The next time he gets this close to posting a no-hitter, however, let’s make sure everyone stays off Twitter until the end of the game. Someone will of course have to remind Nightengale about this too.

Next. German Marquez nearly did the impossible at Coors Field. dark
