Details and video of Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna being arrested for DUI have surfaced and made the situation for Atlanta look even worse.

Marcell Ozuna missed the end of last season with the Atlanta Braves after he was brought into custody by police on an accusation of domestic violence. He returned in 2022 with the team as his contract was not voided but, early on Friday morning, he was arrested for the second time in 15 months.

Around 4 a.m. ET, he was pulled over in Norcross, GA for speeding and not maintaining his lane. After a discussion with the officer that pulled him over and having three tests administered to him, per TMZ, he refused a breath or blood alcohol test as he was arrested.

He spoke to the media in the clubhouse later on Friday ahead of the team’s game against the Houston Astros, only saying that he was “disappointed” and had let down his teammates and others.

But now more details and video of the arrest have emerged that make the situation more troubling.

Braves: Marcell Ozuna arrest video makes situation look even worse

The first video of the traffic stop shows Ozuna greeting the officer by saying, “I’m Ozuna for the Braves” before he handed not just his driver’s license but also his MLB ID card to reiterate he was a professional baseball player.

Once he was out of the car and talking with the officer, he admitted to having “three or four” beers that night as the officer stated that the car smelled like booze. He also said that he was going to an after-party in the area after a nearby club had closed in addition to motioning that he would hand his keys to someone else instead of drinking and driving.

The videos are quite damning in their content.

For starters, the fact that he opened up his interaction with police by stating that he was a player for the Braves indicates that he thought he could get out of whatever was about to transpire based on his status as a pro athlete. Furthermore, his interactions thereafter with the police seemed to lack any contrition or immediate remorse.

There has been no discipline handed down by the organization yet for Ozuna in terms of a suspension or otherwise. However, two serious arrests in the last 15 months likely indicates that some sort of punishment will be coming — and perhaps a conclusion to his time in Atlanta as well.
