Frank Gore Jr. and Southern Miss quietly putting Miami football on upset alert
By John Buhler
Of course, Frank Gore Jr. and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles have the Miami Hurricanes on upset alert.
Just wait until Frank Gore Jr.’s father hears about this!
Not since Draco Malfoy told his dark lord servant father Lucius about all the shenanigans that Harry Potter boy was up to at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has a father awaited such important news. That is because Gore’s Southern Miss Golden Eagles have a chance to upset his namesake father’s Miami Hurricanes. Though Southern Miss might lose, it’s all about The U!
Mario Cristobal may try and take the high road, but he doesn’t know where it ends. He may want to be a Cristoballer, to show you how its ends. Like Stephan Jenkins sang during his turn-of-the-century apex prime, we are living some semi-charmed life in thinking Ray Guy’s guys can beat The U in South Florida. Deep inside of The U, this has to hurt so step back from that ledge, my friend.
If U do not want to see the Hurricanes play football again, I would understand. I would understand.
Frank Gore Jr. and Southern Miss somehow have Miami on upset alert in Week 2
No doubt about it, Cristobal was not going to be able to reclaim that is the sunken ship that is his alma mater in one season. He will recruit like he did at Oregon and as a Nick Saban assistant at Alabama before that. In due time, The U will be The U again. In the meantime, we love the all the all of U. If Miami has this hard time with this newest Fun Belt entrant, just wait for ACC play then.
The good news for Miami is none of their instate rivals are exactly humming either. Although Florida and Florida State won their Labor Day Weekends in dramatic upset fashion, neither team is going undefeated this season. If you want proof of that, just look at how seriously soon-to-be Power Five powerhouse UCF took those pesky Birds With Teeth at home. It was pure sadness.
Ultimately, the only thing that matters is for Miami to pick up the pace and blow out Southern Miss in the second half. All first-half woes will be forgotten, but in a narrow victory will be troublesome and a home defeat to the Golden Eagles would be embarrassing. Watch out for rogue cats on the upper concourse at Hard Rock Stadium. It was a sign of things to come a season ago…
Frank Gore Jr. is the son of a rock, who is hanging with The Rock’s team at Hard Rock Stadium.
