UCF’s Twitter really tried to hide losing score vs. Louisville

You’ll need a microscope to see the final score of the Louisville game on UCF’s Twitter account.

After getting bounced in the Bounce House by those pesky Birds With Teeth, UCF defined sadness in how its official football Twitter account displayed the final score of the game vs. Louisville.

Good news: The Knights only lost by six points to a Power Five team. Bad news: They are going Power Five next year and lost to a desperate Cardinals team at home without scoring a single point in the second half. Losing to Louisville is not the end of the world, but the Cardinals got smoked by Syracuse in Week 1. Therefore, neither of these teams are going to be much of a factor.

UCF does not care if you have 20/20 eyesight, or hindsight for that matter, as the Knights do not want you to see this final score of theirs: 20-14, Louisville.

This was the first time UCF lost at home under second-year head coach Gus Malzahn. The Knights went a strong 9-4 in his first season in Orlando. Had Louisville lost this game, it would have put immense pressure on Cardinals head coach Scott Satterfield. At 0-2, their home opener vs. division rival Florida State would have become a must-win game for Satterfield to keep his job.

Although UCF can get better from this, it puts criticism on Malzahn’s plate. The Knights were in complete control of this game in the first half and came out listless in the second. They did not score in their final seven possessions, allowing Malik Cunningham and the boys to pull off the road upset bid of ole UCF. If you are the Knights, you have to win games like this forever going forward.

By moving up to the Big 12 next year, you need to take care of business vs. the big boys, in a primetime affair nonetheless. UCF can officially be crossed off as a contender to win the Group of Five one final time. For now, the Knights need to prepare for conference play and see if they can get quality wins over the likes of Cincinnati, Houston or SMU this season. They at least have that…

Conversely, the pressure has been alleviated to some extent when it comes to Satterfield’s job.
