Urban Meyer was brought into the FOX broadcast booth, and got a good look at the Nebraska Cornhuskers when they faced the Oklahoma Sooners.
Nebraska Cornhuskers fans got to see what the post-Scott Frost era would look like after they fired the head coach last week. In Week 3, they faced off against the No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners. They got off to a strong start in the first quarter, but eventually, the Sooners showed exactly why they were a top 10 team in the country.
In the second half of the game, lead commentator Gus Johnson was pulled from the broadcast booth due to feeling under the weather. So, the network called upon former Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn and ex-Florida Gators, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer to fill in. That’s right, Meyer, the one who some Nebraska fans want to be their next head coach.
Well, he got a good look at how the program is doing.
With Gus Johnson sick, Joel Klatt is now doing play by play and they've brought Urban Meyer and Brady Quinn into the booth.

Urban Meyer gets birds eye view of Nebraska Cornhuskers
At one point as Nebraska’s deficit grew, the FOX camera feed cut to two Cornhuskers fans wearing bright red shirts that read “Hire Urban Meyer.” Prior to the game, Nebraska fans chanted “We want Urban” as Meyer was on the Big Noon Kickoff panel.
According to CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd, Nebraska reached out to Meyer but notes that it was not made clear whether they asked Meyer if he was interested in the job.
Meyer obviously has the championship pedigree at the collegiate level, as evidenced during his time at Florida and Ohio State. However, his tenures were filled with controversy, with the most notable being the end of his Ohio State stint, where he was suspended for three games in the 2018 season due to his handling of domestic violence accusations made against assistant coach Zach Smith.
Then, there was his disastrous tenure with the Jaguars. From the infamous video of himself at a bar with a woman that was not his wife immediately after the team lost to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football (and did not travel back with the team), to kicking placekicker Josh Lambo during warmups. After a 2-11 start, the Jaguars had enough of the controversies and fired Meyer.
Is Nebraska desperate enough to experience success that they would make a push for the controversial Meyer? Does Meyer even want the job? Nevertheless, Meyer got a look at the Cornhuskers losing 49-14 to the Sooners.
