It hasn’t been pretty, but Georgia keeps on winning and is looking the part of a title contender.

Just when everybody wanted to cross Georgia off as a serious national title contender, they blew out Auburn at home to get to 6-0 and achieve bowl eligibility in the process.

The Dawgs had their issues vs. Kent State at home two weeks ago, and definitely on the road last Saturday at Missouri. While Georgia is getting everyone’s best game, as they are the defending national champions, the Dawgs did lose 15 players off last year’s roster who were selected in the 2022 NFL Draft. Attrition is not easy to overcome, but Georgia still looks like an incredible team.

Georgia has one more game vs. Vanderbilt before taking on arch-rival Florida in the Cocktail Party.

Although they allowed a late score to the Tigers, the Georgia defense is not letting hardly anyone hit pay dirt on them this season. While the offense has been hit or miss throughout Stetson Bennett IV’s recent inconsistencies, the rushing attack will win out at the end of the day in most circumstances. A team might get the best of Georgia initially, but like gravity, it will always win.

Two things that are really standing out about this team in a positive direction are they know they have work to do while they keep winning games and they are quietly building leadership in some of these spots of minor adversity. It may not be enough to beat the likes of Alabama or Ohio State in January, but little does become big over time. The Dawgs needed a win like this one on Saturday.

Ultimately, the Dawgs still have to play Kentucky, Mississippi State and Tennessee during the regular season, as well as the always interesting neutral-site affair vs. Florida in Jacksonville. If they can capture the head-to-head tiebreaker over the undefeated Vols and see UK lose another game, it might be a return trip to Atlanta for Kirby Smart’s program. Take it one game at a time…

This is the type of game the Dawgs needed to feel good about its chances of possibly repeating.
