The Kansas Jayhawks entered Week 6 ranked for the first time this season, but they lost 38-31 to the TCU Horned Frogs in a thrilling game.
After taking the nation by storm, it took the Kansas Jayhawks going 5-0 to be ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time this season. Not only that, but they were named the location for ESPN’s College GameDay in Week 6. They had the chance to further show that they deserve to be recognized as one of the top teams in the country, as they took on the No. 17 TCU Horned Frogs.
The Jayhawks gave it their all, and overcame an injury to star quarterback Jalon Daniels, to give the Horned Frogs a tough fight. However, they fell 38-31 following a fourth-quarter touchdown reception by Quentin Johnston.
Collee football media reacted to Kansas’ first loss of the season, where they said despite that, they showed that they belong.

AP better not think of dropping Kansas or TCU out of the top 25 these teams kick ass

Kansas should be favored against Oklahoma next week. That felt weird to type but it’s true.

Hate that for Kansas.

Think they're in good shape next week versus OU, though. Jayhawks' offense is so much fun.

It’s been a long time since this program has been competitive, and the fans can appreciate a competitive loss.
At least Kansas can take its frustrations out on Oklahoma next week

Rough to go out on those two calls for Kansas. Still, top 25 caliber team for Lance Leipold. Meanwhile, what a start for Sonny Dykes.

Win, lose, or draw — what a showing from Lawrence, KS today

Some wondered if KU should get GameDay
Atmosphere was electric, stadium has been so loud announcers have had trouble hearing the refs, and this game has been absolutely bananas
Kansas football ain’t a joke no more
Prior to halftime, Daniels was tackled as he tried to escape pressure from TCU’s defense. However, he was brought down hard and landed directly on his throwing shoulder. He exited the game, and did not return for the second half. That meant the Jayhawks had to turn to redshirt senior Jason Bean, and he put on quite the show.
Bean helped Kansas take a 17-10 lead in the third quarter. In fact, he helped Kansas tie things up when TCU took multiple leads, including a 29-yard touchdown pass to Quentin Skinner with less than five minutes remaining in regulation. While the Jayhawks were 34-yards outside of the end zone on the final drive of the game, it stalled out on an incomplete pass on fourth down.
Entering in relief of Daniels, Bean completed 16-of-24 pass attempts for 262 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.
As for TCU, quarterback Max Duggan threw for 308 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while completing 23-of-33 passes. Duggan also ran for 55 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Perhaps the Horned Frogs’ biggest star of the game was Johnston, who caught 14 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns.
Even though Kansas lost, they have turned a lot of heads. They have a chance to bounce back next week when they take on an Oklahoma Sooners team that lost 49-0 to the Texas Longhorns.
