Some Miami football fans have seen enough out of Mario Cristobal and want him to resign.

We are only six games into the Mario Cristobal era of Miami football and some fans want the former Hurricanes offensive lineman … to resign?!

It was never going to be easy for Cristobal to make The U The U again. While his predecessor Manny Diaz had his moments, it is not like Cristobal inherited a program firing on all cylinders either. Then again, he knew what he signed up for. His alma mater needed help, so he answered the call from fellow Cane and Miami athletic director Dan Radakovich. Too bad Miami is not good.

And here we go, Miami football fans wanting for Cristobal to resign after only six games in charge.

Miami football fans are not happy about Mario Cristobal, want him to resign

There are unreasonable expectations, and then there’s this. On what planet would Cristobal resign from leading his alma mater’s program midway through his first season on the job? Even if turning around The U is harder than anticipated, here are two reasons why he is not stepping down under any circumstances: He is getting paid a ton of money and the university is investing in football!

Cristobal may be getting paid handsomely in Coral Gables, but that is kind of what is expected for a head coach of his caliber. He did win a ton of games at his previous post in Oregon. Regardless of if Cristobal is overpaid or not, having the university truly investing in its football team is a massive, massive advantage he has that most of his predecessors did not. Miami is in the State of Florida…

With Florida, Florida State, Miami and now UCF not firing on all cylinders currently, eventually, someone will take advantage of the talent-rich state and return to glory. Although Gus Malzahn has had the most success of any of those head coaches, keep in mind that UCF is making the leap up to the Power Five level once the Knights join the Big 12. Soon enough, Cristobal will be on top.

Asking for Cristobal to resign from his post in Miami is like asking for Pat McAfee to ditch the black tank top as a crucial part of his daily wardrobe; it ain’t happening, bruh!
