Michigan football was supposed to steamroll Indiana but the Wolverines found themselves in serious danger of an upset and fans let them hear it.

Favored by more than three touchdowns, the expectation was for Michigan football to go on the road to play Indiana and beat them into submission. After a bit of a statement game against Iowa last week, the stock seemed to be rising for the Wolverines. The Hoosiers, however, immediately started to push every bit of that growing hype down.

Blake Corum started out the Wolverines’ first drive with two dominant runs to earn a quick lead but then things went absolutely sideways. Michigan couldn’t find any consistent offense with Corum or J.J. McCarthy and the defense was allowing Indiana to move the ball pretty easily. And with a blocked field goal from each team to punctuate the situation, they went into halftime tied 10-10.

Suffice it to say, Michigan found itself on upset alert in the most unlikely fashion.

There have been plenty of detractors circling the Wolverines this season with a soft schedule to begin the year, so with the team on upset alert against a Hoosiers team that has looked downright bad at times this season, the trolls came out to get their piece of Jim Harbaugh and his team.

While there were no shortage of people who were piling on the Wolverines, the fact of the matter is that many fans felt this inevitably coming to pass as a trap game with Penn State on deck for next week.

That upset alert in the first half might’ve been a wake-up call for Michigan, however, as they forced a stop to open the second half and then drove 99 yards to take a 17-10 lead.
