Dabo Swinney lost two star coordinators, but Clemson has not skipped a beat

Not to say Clemson got off to a horrid start, but the Tigers carried a lot of stink with them after how last season went. Dabo Swinney lost both of his top coordinators to Power Five jobs, and people were wondering if this was the beginning of the end for the ACC dynasty. Now at the midway point, Clemson is 6-0 and a top-five team in the country with two huge division wins.

By having the head-to-head tiebreakers over Wake Forest and North Carolina State, Clemson is essentially a shoo-in to win the ACC Atlantic and get back to Charlotte. Although they still have to play the likes of Syracuse and Florida State, to have the early-season edge over the Deacs and Wolfpack will go a long way towards Clemson winning the ACC and getting back into the playoff.

With every Clemson win, we can feel more confident about its chances of winning the whole thing.

Georgia blowout was an anomaly, as Dan Lanning has his Oregon Ducks flying

As it turns out, Oregon was a pretty strong team all along. While Dan Lanning’s Ducks were Dawg food vs. his former employer over Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta, many teams get blown out by Georgia. After one of the worst losses he will ever experience, Lanning has his team playing up to its lofty standard, which is as a Pac-12 title contender and a fringe College Football Playoff team.

After winning five in a row, Oregon is on its bye week ahead of a massive Week 8 game vs. UCLA. If the Ducks can win that game, they can probably win their five remaining Pac-12 games after that, which include home dates vs. Washington and Utah, as well as a huge rivalry game on the road in Corvallis. If the Ducks win out and beat USC in the Pac-12 title bout, they might make the playoff.

Let Clemson, Notre Dame and Oregon be proof it is never truly season-over in early September.
