With Devin Leary out for the season, the NC State Wolfpack is in as rough of a shape as Alan Garner’s was when they lost Doug Billings in Las Vegas.
The NC State Wolfpack will be without Devin Leary for a while, much like Alan Garner was without his future brother-in-law Doug Billings for some time in Las Vegas over a decade ago.
Not sure how Tracy feels about this, or an all-grown-up Carlos for that matter, but this is not a good time to be had in Raleigh for this particular Wolfpack. NC State already lost the Textile Bowl to division rival Clemson. Although they are the No. 15 team in the country entering Week 7, they have to play on the road at No. 18 Syracuse, their other ACC Atlantic rival who has not lost a game.
It will be The Jack Chambers Show the rest of the way for NC State. So who is this new starter?

Devin Leary injury: Who is new NC State starting quarterback Jack Chambers?
According to the 247Sports Composite, Chambers was unrated dual-threat quarterback prospect in the class of 2016 from Georgia. The former Parkview High School standout from Lilburn committed to Charleston Southern in Feb. 2016. After graduating with a masters degree from Charleston Southern, Chambers enrolled at North Carolina State and walked onto the team.
Entering Week 7’s road game at Syracuse, Chambers has appeared in four games. He has completed 6-of-14 passes for 48 yards and a touchdown thus far this season. Chambers also has 11 carries for 42 yards and a reception that lost five on the play. In short, while Chambers’ dual-threat abilities may help the Wolfpack win games down the stretch, losing Leary means it is over…
Ultimately, what are you going to do when you lose your NFL Draft prospect quarterback to a torn pectoral muscle midway through a season of great promise? The ACC has yet to be decided, but the Wolfpack are hoping Clemson loses twice and they win out. Otherwise, it will not be NC State representing the ACC Atlantic in Charlotte. As Alan Garner once said, “I’m sorry, guys. I fudged up.”
If Doug can make it on time to his wedding, then we should expect for this Wolfpack to carry on.
