Tennessee’s huge home upset victory over Alabama massively impacted the latest college football rankings with this week’s AP Top 25 Poll dropping on Sunday afternoon.

If there was ever a week to get fully invested in college football rankings, this would be the time.

Week 7 of the 2022 college football season saw four top-10 teams lose on Saturday (Alabama, Oklahoma State, Penn State, USC). As expected, the AP Top 25 reflects these huge teams going down. While the College Football Playoff picture is slowly coming together, there are so many teams left with a fantastic opportunity to make the four-team field and have amazing seasons.

Here is what the latest AP Top 25 Poll looks like as we turn our attention toward Week 8.

College football rankings: AP Top 25, Week 8: Tennessee, Alabama trade places

You better believe there was a great deal of movement through the AP Top 25 after Week 7.

  1. Georgia Bulldogs
  2. Ohio State Buckeyes
  3. Tennessee Volunteers
  4. Michigan Wolverines
  5. Clemson Tigers
  6. Alabama Crimson Tide
  7. Ole Miss Rebels
  8. TCU Horned Frogs
  9. UCLA Bruins
  10. Oregon Ducks
  11. Oklahoma State Cowboys
  12. USC Trojans
  13. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
  14. Syracuse Orange
  15. Utah Utes
  16. Penn State Nittany Lions
  17. Kansas State Wildcats
  18. Illinois Fighting Illini
  19. Kentucky Wildcats
  20. Texas Longhorns
  21. Cincinnati Bearcats
  22. North Carolina Tar Heels
  23. North Carolina State Wolfpack
  24. Mississippi State Bulldogs
  25. Tulane Green Wave

Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee, Michigan and Clemson are your top five. Alabama, Ole Miss, TCU, UCLA and Oregon round out the top 10. Oklahoma State, USC, Wake Forest, Syracuse and Utah are No. 11-15. Penn State, Kansas State, Illinois, Kentucky and Texas are No. 16-20. Cincinnati, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Mississippi State and Tulane round out this week’s top 25 rankings.

The big key this week is Tennessee and Alabama swapped places. The Vols moved up from No. 6 to No. 3, while the Tide dropped down three spots from No. 3 to No. 6. Oklahoma State, USC and Penn State all fell out of the top 10, while TCU, UCLA and Oregon cracked the top 10 this week. As far as new entrants are concerned, good job by you, North Carolina, and look at the Greenies, man!

Unfortunately, that might be all she wrote for America’s former sweetheart in the Kansas Jayhawks. Back-to-back Big 12 losses to TCU and a bad Oklahoma team have them on the outside looking in. While it was cool to see the James Madison Dukes be the first team making the transition to the FBS level crack the top 25 in year one, they lost to Georgia Southern on Saturday.

There are plenty of discussions to be had at the water cooler this upcoming week, so have at it!
