College football rankings: Losers from AP Top 25 Poll, Week 8

player. 829. (6-1). Alabama Crimson Tide. SEC. 6. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Alabama narrowly lost to Tennessee, but this is not the same Alabama program

There is no way around it. This is not the same Nick Saban Alabama team from years past. The Crimson Tide have lost another rivalry game in heartbreaking fashion. For now, the Tide have to run the gauntlet to make the College Football Playoff, just like last year. Unfortunately, they still have to play the Mississippi schools, as well as either Tennessee or Georgia if they get to Atlanta.

(5-1). Oklahoma State Cowboys. 856. Big 12. 11. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Oklahoma State fell in overtime to TCU, but may not be as good as advertised

Just when everybody wants to buy into the Oklahoma State Cowboys being a serious College Football Playoff contender, they lose a game they probably cannot afford to drop. While falling to TCU on the road in overtime is understandable, the Pokes are going to need to win out and get a ton of help from around the Power Five if they want to make the playoff for the first time ever.

player. 808. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Pac-12. (6-1). USC Trojans. 12

As it turns out, Lincoln Riley is not going to win every USC game without defense

Oklahoma fans were trying to tell y’all, but you wouldn’t listen. While the offense is fantastic under Lincoln Riley, the defense leaves a lot to be desired. Eventually, the high-octane offense of USC was going to meet a relative equal. We know Kyle Whittingham’s Utah Utes can put up points. It was only a one-point road loss in Salt Lake, but USC’s slim playoff chances are now on life support.

16. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Big Ten. (5-1). Penn State Nittany Lions. player. 806

It is going to be incredibly difficult for Penn State to win the Big Ten East now

Last week was a great week to short Penn State. Although they played Michigan hard in the first half, they were no match for the Wolverines in The Big House in the final two frames of their Big Ten rivalry game. Losing to Michigan is not the end of the world, but how can we even be the least bit confidence about the Nittany Lions’ chances vs. the Buckeyes in Happy Valley in two weeks?

Here is to Alabama, Oklahoma State, Penn State and USC bouncing back with impressive victories.
