Texas trips over itself in ugly loss to Oklahoma State: College football media reacts
Texas football racked up penalties and turnovers as they lost to Oklahoma State, opening up the floodgates of criticism for Quinn Ewers and Steve Sarkisian.
Maybe Texas spent too much team reading their own headlines this week. Maybe Oklahoma State just has the Longhorns’ number. Either way, Saturday was equal parts disappointing and embarrassing for Steve Sarkisian’s team.
Texas led No. 11 Oklahoma State by 31-17 late in the second quarter. They let the Cowboys outscore them 24-3 in the final three minutes of the first half and the entire second half.
The college football media watching the game had a lot of things to say about how it all went down.

The way the Longhorns picked up penalties, ending with 14 for 119 yards, was frustrating.
Watching Quinn Ewers complete just 38 percent of his passes and throw three interceptions was even worse.
Twitter had no interest in letting Ewers off the hook for his performance.
Texas took a beating on the field and on social media, especially since so much of the narrative around the Longhorns was that they wouldn’t have suffered their first two losses if Quinn Ewers had been healthy. Recent performances haven’t backed that up.

Sarkisian is now getting some less-than-desirable comparisons to his predecessor Tom Herman.
The “almost” against Alabama can only ease Sark’s hot seat for so long. Texas still looks a long way from contending for the Big 12, let alone the College Football Playoff.
While the Longhorns have to go back to the drawing board, Oklahoma State just improved their chances of contending by bouncing back after their close loss to TCU last week.
