This Arch Manning throw will have Texas (or maybe Tennessee) fans salivating
By John Buhler
Arch Manning is going to do this at Texas, but Tennessee fans are paying close attention, too.
While Arch Manning is absolutely going to Texas, Tennessee is having a very special season.
The third generation of star Manning quarterbacks committed to Texas over the likes of Alabama, Georgia and his family’s homestead of Ole Miss. Heck, even his Uncle Peyton’s alma mater could not even get any serious consideration out of Arch. However, the more Tennessee wins, the more the conversation might be to get Manning to flip. This is not happening, but check out this throw!
It is going to be awfully hard for Steve Sarkisian to keep this powerful arm on the bench at Texas.
Arch Manning dazzles with spectacular throw to make Texas fans very happy
The plan is for Manning to enroll early in January at the University of Texas and then redshirt. Doing so would create a two-year gap between him and Longhorns starting quarterback Quinn Ewers. If Ewers plays up to his potential, he could be a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft after his redshirt sophomore year at Texas. This would allow Manning to take over the reins in 2024.
Of course, Texas has not been a bastion of stability throughout much of the last decade-plus. Then again, neither has Tennessee. Regardless, wouldn’t it be something if Manning really did flip from Texas to Tennessee before the first of two national signing days? It would have to take a perfect storm, but this is college football, a delightful sport where anything and everything can happen.
Overall, you have to love the raw talent and quarterbacking pedigree Manning possesses. If he plays up to his potential, he will be the fourth member of his family taken in the first round of an NFL Draft. His uncles won a combined four Super Bowls with three different teams. His grandfather was arguably the first star player in the history of the New Orleans Saints franchise.
It may take a few years, but once Manning gets to start a college game, people will be watching.
